The facility is completely self-contained, incorporating all necessary raw material handling, smelting, gas cleaning and product -handling equipment, with associated utilities. The plant is capable of producing 15,000 tonnes per year of pig iron.

The plant has been modified for use as a resource recovery facility (late 2007), however it remains available for use in demonstrating iron production and other applications, using client raw materials.
