AM2 is a hydroxamate based mineral flotation reagent which has been developed and patented by Ausmelt. It has been found in laboratory and plant evaluations to be effective at floating oxidised ores of copper, molybdenum, nickel and lead. It also recovers tin, PGM’s, gold and silver. Work is in progress to develop an AM2 derivative for zinc.

The product can be used in conventional flotation circuits as the prime reagent to recover metal from ore with a high proportion of oxidised ore (instead of xanthates or other standard collectors). It can also be used as a tertiary collector with other reagents on mixed sulphide and oxidised ores to increase recovery.

AM2 has been tested in laboratories by a number of the world’s leading mining houses in Chile, Australia, Indonesia, gif, Peru and the Republic of South Africa (RSA). To date most test work has been on copper, copper/molybdenum, copper/gold and platinum bearing ores although tests have been carried out on nickel and tin.

AM2 can be useful in increasing metal recoveries from a wide range of ore types and a wide range of applications.

AM2 will float copper, gold, silver, molybdenum, nickel, tin, PGMs and lead.

It can be used as part of the collector suite, in standard flotation circuits, particularly in scavengers, to increase the recovery of minerals from mixed sulphide and oxidised ores, particularly transition zone ore.
Oxidised ores or weathered tailings can be treated to recover metal from flotation circuits with out the need for sulphidisation.
